No matter the place, time or circumstance of disaster children are vulnerable victims and their safety is at risk. My heart reaches out to the boys and girls injured, stranded and or abandoned in Haiti. A measure of peace comes when I hear about rescue effort by reputable organizations such as Save the Children .
Children have become a target of crime and commodity for evil underground activities. Severely hampered security workers have this extra burden to watch out for in mass damage areas created by earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, the aftermath of pandemic disease and more. Alarm grips my heart when I discover that seemingly well intended efforts are actually hindering or making situations worse. Rescue efforts and health care delivery by legitimate organizations are then slowed while overtaxed law enforcement sifts through the fall out.
Manyhumanitarian efforts around the world are worthy of our monetary and hands-on-labor donations. I urge everyone to research the reputability of their chosen charity carefully, and make sure you are lending your humanitarian efforts to a positive end. My prayers go out for the children in Haiti and world wide.
