Save the Child Book Debut is Coming!

Save the Child is at the Printers!  This reality fiction novel will make its debut along with the premier of the trailer at the Goodfellow Book Celebration on Thursday, November 4th 2010 from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm.  I’m so excited I can hardly stand to wait. I’ve got the proof in my hands and it is more like holding my newborns than I ever imagined. After seven years of labor, four different writing instructors, tons of research, buckets of tears and a head with less hair that is very gray, the novel has moved to the end of the publishing birth canal.

I’m giddy with excitement at the same time my heart squeezes with anxiety something akin to when I put my first child on the school bus for the first time, or when I sent my youngest to an out-of-state debate camp at age fourteen. Both turned out to be wonderful, mature adults despite all the challenges they met along the way. I hope and pray my book will be as successful.

Come celebrate life and love with nine authors and our books at the Wright House in Mesa AZ on 636 W. University Dr. 85201. We joined together with our book producer and editor to form: Writers Unite to Fight Cancer. We are holding a silent auction to rasie money for the American Association for Cancer Research and we are also contributing a protion of our book sales that evening to the AACR.

I hope to see you there with all your friends who love to read, we have beautiful books and an important cause: to help eradicate cancer.

Help Raise Awareness for Dyslexia Without Spending Money.

Today is Monday, August 16th.  How would you feel if by August 31st, you helped to donate $10,000 to Dislecksia: The Movie, without ever spending a dime?  It could happen, with help from the Pepsi Refresh Project and Despite Dyslexia!  Despite Dyslexia is running for a 250K grant in order to start a non-profit organization that will provide information and resources to dyslexics, their parents, and educators, as well as help to defray costs from tuition, tutoring, and evaluations.  If Despite Dyslexia wins their grant, they will donate $10,000 to Dislecksia: The Movie!  Below is some general information about the Pepsi Refresh Project, Despite Dyslexia, and how to vote in order to change the world!

The Pepsi Refresh Project is giving away over a million dollars each month to people, businesses, and non-profit that have ideas to positively impact people’s lives and communities.  Over a thousand projects are in the running each month, in 6 different categories: health, arts and culture, food and shelter, the planet, neighborhoods, and education.  There are four grant amounts that the projects can run for: $5,000, $25,000, $50,000, and $250,000.  At the end of the month-long voting period (August 1st – August 31st in our case), the top two projects in the $250,000 category receive their grants.  The top 10 leaders in the other three categories receive their grants as well.

General information on Despite Dyslexia: The mission of Despite Dyslexia is to provide hope to the dyslexic community by making others aware of the impact dyslexia has on personal, social and financial levels, providing knowledge and understanding to families of dyslexic children and working together to provide those children the education they deserve and need to succeed as our future generation.

We will provide information, training and educational tools to families of dyslexics through workshops and seminars. Fund raising and community events will promote awareness. These events, combined with grant writing, will help to ensure continual and increasing funding to help defray the costs of testing, tutoring and schooling associated with dyslexia.

10-15% of the US population has dyslexia; only 5 out of every 100 dyslexics receives support. Dyslexia can be overcome with the right resources, support and education.  We want every child to succeed….despite dyslexia!
