Save the Child Book Launch 11/4/2010

I am one of eight authors that will have their books featured in the Goodfellow Publishing Book Launch this coming Thursday November 4th, 2010 from 7:00pm until 10:00 pm     at the Wright House Reception Centre in Mesa, Arizona  85201.

All of us have joined together to form the group Writers Unite to Fight Cancer. We will hold a silent auction during our celebration event to raise money for the American Association for Cancer Research. The vehicle for collecting the monetary contributions is provided by one of the authors, Lisa Finder  who wrote Black Sand, is the founder or White Lions Foundation.  White Lions is a non-profit 501 (3) (c ) public charity that provides nutritional supplements directly to cancer patients.

One of the Writers Unite to Fight Cancer authors, Barbara Lofgreen who wrote Generations, has Stage IV Lung Cancer. She serves as our Mascot – the reason to work hard to raise money for cancer research. Also all of us have been touched by this devastating disease and so we are passionately motivated about this issue.

Dr. Pamela R. Goodfellow is the book producer and developmental editor for all of the authors in Writers Unite to Fight Cancer. The other authors include: Cindy R. Williams who wrote Chase McKay Didn’t Get Up Today, Carrie E. Goodfellow who wrote and illustrated What Can You Do When It’s 102?, Louise Laughlin author of I Must Be Dreaming, Santa Goes Shopping, and Libby’s Vacation, and Anna Arnett wrote her memoir Lolly’s Yarn.

Please come enjoy the music, entertainment, auction, meeting the authors and buy some wonderful gifts for Christmas and other special occasions.

New Children’s Book author joins Writers Unite to Fight Cancer

Louise_R_Laughlin_smMy fellow authors and I are participating in the Goodfellow Publishing Launch and have joined forces with the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR Foundation). Our Writers Unite to Fight Cancer group is taking action. We’ve turned our book launch into something special; an opportunity to do our share in raising money for cancer research.  We will each be presenting their newest books at the launch. In addition to I Must Be Dreaming, I will present my two children’s books, LIBBY’S VACATION and SANTA GOES SHOPPING. Both are perfect stocking stuffers for Christmas.  Not only are we donating money from book sales, but we are also gathering items for a silent auction. Please join us in our challenge of raising funds for AACR Foundation. The celebration takes place on September 25, 2010, from 7:00pm-10:00pm at the Shenandoah Mill in Gilbert, Arizona. Everyone may participate through donations on the GPS website.

Libby’s Vacation, ISBN # 978-0-9815814-9-1 is a delightful story about a dog whose family went on vacation without her. As things turned out, she had a grand time on her own vacation time at the dog-sitter’s house.

After two careers; one in the airline industry and one in the complex telecommunications field, Louise has focused her spare time in retirement to pursuing her life-long love of writing. Her forty-two years of marriage to her husband Larry has provided plenty of subject matter. Louise has two sons; both of whom are married, three grandchildren, three grand-dogs and one grand-cat.

I_Must_Be_Dreaming_Book_SmallCancer has a characteristic that we teach our children. Share. Unfortunately, its sharing causes heartache, financial strain and often death. In a period of less than ten years, I lost my sister to colon cancer, prayed for the recovery of two of my sisters-in-law to survive breast cancer and nearly lost my husband to esophageal cancer. A classmate of mine from my writing class has cancer. It just happened. One day, she had a cough and the next day she was down for the count. She’s is waging a brave battle against her demon. In the past two months, I learned my niece has thyroid cancer and a close friend of our family has cancer. Enough sharing already! I don’t know anyone who has not been touched by cancer in some way; family or friends.   My husband’s survival experience prompted me to write a Memoir; I MUST BE DREAMING. Writing it was therapeutic .  Louise’ second children’s Picture book, Santa Goes Shopping will be out this fall.
